Alvaro and Kristin's "bit of the web"
In Memory of Ivette,
our beloved mother and mother-in-law.
Maria Alicia Ivette Sironvalle Cortes left us in December 2002 and when she left she took a big piece of our hearts away with her. She was ready to leave this world, and died in peace to face eternity with her Lord and Savior. But those of us left behind were not so ready to let her go. She filled our lives in so many ways, and she is dearly missed every day and every minute of each day. We wanted to put this together in her memory, reflecting on what she meant to us when she was alive - and still does....

Ivette was a beautiful woman, both on the outside and the inside.
Here with husband Osvaldo.
Ivette was born in Mejillones in northern Chile, but later moved to Santiago where she married Osvaldo Pizarro. She dedicated her life to her husband and their four children (from left to right) Diego, Gonzalo, Alonso and Alvaro. |
Ivette loved people, and her home was always the gathering place for family and friends. Both Ivette and Osvaldo were one of 12 siblings, and their extended family really is extensive! Our albums are full of pictures of family gatherings. Here are just a few examples ........

Ivette buried her husband Osvaldo in 1991. She cared for him in their home until he passed away. Here she is at the funeral with Diego, Gonzalo, Alvaro, and Alonso.
Ivette would faithfully visit Osvaldo's grave, and we suspect that she was longing for the day when she could join him there.
Ivette adored her grandchildren, and they were a very important part of her life. When she came to visit us in the US she would talk about them all the time, and we would go to the Mall where she would spend hours picking out gifts for them. We have not tried to sort the following pictures in any way. These are simply a collection of pictures of Ivette and the grandchildren she loved so much. (The pictures are not even in chronological order!) |

Paulina, better known as Paupi, was her very first granddaughter.
Ivette is here holding one of her recently born grandchildren. We must admit we do not know which one. (Hint: please tell us if you know who this cute little baby is!!!)

Ivette never wanted to learn to drive, but here she is pretending to be driving, with Paupi in the passenger seat.
Alvaro has many good memories of the trip they took together to Eurpoe. Here is a picture of Ivette in Paris at Place Vendome.

May 11, 2002.
It is hard to celebrate Mother's Day without a mother to celebrate it with. There is pain and sorrow in our hearts today as we have remembered our mothers, and one of them is missing - Ivette. How we wish we could pick up the phone and tell her that we love her and miss her. But we can't. So in stead we have put these pictures together in her honor, hoping others will be encouraged to remember all that she was and continues to be to all of us.
With love from Alvaro and Kristin |
