Summer of 1967

Kristin was born on 14 June 1964, in Kristiansand in Norway. We haven't been able to find an earlier picture than 1967.

Summer of 1973
- Hild, Kristin and Adelheid in Lerwick, Shetland.

On several occasions she went to Shetland to visit relatives. They were exciting trips in small aeroplanes or via boat from Bergen. From 9 years old with a pretty bow in her hair.... to a rogue teenager in the full denim outfit!

She was confirmed in 1979, dressed up to the nines in her national costume: the Setesdal Bunad. At this stage her sisters appeared more rogue than her....
There were also many more trips to mainland UK, once almost coinciding with Charles marrying Diana... So they found themselves sightseeing around London as well as hanging off the fences at Buckingham Palace.
One day she finally decided to move across the North Sea - to study mining engineering and the University of Newcastle Upon Tyne.
She had family visiting from Norway a few times while she was there... an excellent opportunity for younger sisters eager to see the world (with a bit of inside information from Kristin).

When she came home from Newcastle to Rygnestad for a quick visit in 1985, she brought her amazing red dress with black dots, recently used at a convention for miners in the UK (do you reckon she made a lasting impression or what?).
We leave it up to you to determine whether she would have attracted the same amount of attention wearing her national costume!!

First there was a summer job in a gold mine in Columbia and then that all-decisive summer job in a copper mine in Chile...
...and then there was Alvaro!!!

Kristin graduated with a Bachelor degree in Mining Engineering with first class honours - University of Newcastle Upon Tyne 1987...
.... and then she moved to Chile ...
.... and then they got married!!!

They have since lived happily either in Chile or in the USA - moving with jobs and study opportunities.
Of course, her sisters came for a visit... this time to Golden, Colorado. They were seen camping their way from Colorado to California and back through the summer of 1990.
Kristin graduated from Colorado School of Mines with a MSc in Mineral Economics - 1991. Spot the "M" on the mountain side in the background - then you know you are in Golden, Colorado!

She and Alvaro lived and worked in Colorado until 1994. It is scary that we don't have any photos... but there you go! What were they up to? - the mind boggles.

In 1995 Kristin and Alvaro travelled to Norway to attend a quick wedding... again stealing all the attention with their national costumes. This time they had Chilean outfits - outdoing all the locals!
Later on that year they celebrated Christmas in Santiago, Chile - with the dogs of course!

Back in Colorado, Kristin and Alvaro were fortunate enough to have Janet and Olav for a visit in 1998! They went far and wide to see the sights.

In the summer of 2001 Kristin picked up a new hobby: Painting houses on rocks. Her favourites are gnome cottages (sorry no photos). Through 2002 the hobby also developed into painting animals on rocks (sorry no photos) - and you should see her ladybugs!!!

In the Spring of 2002 Kristin forms
the Rygnestad Group
together with Hild. They celebrate their achievements with "fake" bubbly and real biscuits in Toronto, Canada.

For some reason, a chipmunk is chosen to give name to their new company computers: Chip and Dale (no... not Chippendale!).
