Foggy Brent Knoll - Mar 2026

Foggy Brent Knoll - Mar 2026
We are excited to live within walking distance of Brent Knoll now. It was a beautiful spring day, so we set off along Stoddens Road to Crooked Lane, past the muddy bit, along Brent Borad Rhyne, across the railway bridge, along Brent Street, past the church, up the steep hill, around the top of Brent Knoll, and finally have some lunch - without a view.

The view was much better this time last year: Brent Knoll, March 2025
If we had gone the day before - it had been beautiful view with sun shining on the spring daffodils.
Today it was foggy and the sun did not seem to be able to deal with it.
We pushed on anyway - across the railway bridge which doesn't like to be called "Weak", but such is life.
The sheep seemed content with lying down for a rest. They didn't mind us walking past.
The daffodils were out greeting everyone at St. Michael's Church.
On the steep slopes of Brent Knoll we met some more sheep. They were even less interested in us and kept on grazing and going about their business.
We love to do the circular path on the top of Brent Knoll. On a normal day you get a 360-degree view of the Somerset levels. All the way to Cheddar Gordge and Glastonbury Tor. Not today. Of course we visited the Jubilee Beacon.
It was both foggy and windy, so we found a good picnic spot behind one of the hills on top of Brent Knoll. At least it was a dry day. Although Hild put on her poncho just to keep the wind out.
We had hoped that pausing for a picnic would let the sun burn through the fog. But we were wrong. Even coming back down the hill we could not see home and Burnham at all.
On a better day, this is the view back home towards Burnham.
