Our day started off with Adelheid working out at the local gym, while
Rob and Hild took the low-intensity option to go for a morning walk.
We walked the loop from Adelheid's apartment in the centre of Valle,
across the Halland bridge and back home across the suspension bridge.
At Halland bridge we noticed a large number of lifebuoys - and it
is indeed a risky place to fall in.

It was a very sunny morning for a walk, and we enjoyed many different
flowers on the road verges.

On our return back across the Otra river we used Prestefossen
suspension bridge. Always a nice photo opportunity.

Yet again we needed to stop by the shop and stock up on
milk. We grabbed a photo of the horrific situation on the
jam shelf. Plenty of strawberry, raspberry, marmalade, and blueberry
jams. But there has been a run on lingonberry jam. The supply-chain
problem has now lasted 48 hours. Oh the horror!

We packed picnic lunch with sandwiches, tea and coffee and set
off to Bjørnevatn (bear lake) for today's hike. The route
took us up Linjedalen as our family calls it. Basically it means
the valley where the powerline runs.

There were plenty of frogs jumping out of our way today.
This lemming was not as jumpy, poor guy. He had seen better days.

After much huffing and puffing we made it to the top of Dammenuten at
1,048 metres. The location marker looked as tired as we felt.

The wind was quite strong today so we chose our picnic spot
carefully on the sheltered side of Dammenuten. The view over the valley
below was beautiful.

Adelheid helped Hild with a refresher lesson in which lake is which.

The trail down the other side of Dammenuten was very steep and narrow at
times. We walked slowly and carefully. Kristin will remember this
route once she visited here recently. She'll have sympathy with our
tired knees!

Hild made the cruel choice that after we had climbed down Dammenuten
we should climb back up Slettestøylsnuten. More huffing and puffing
and then again tired knees down the other side.

To make things even worse, we came across a scary sight for Adelheid: lots and lots of
ferns (ormegras). She has been part of a project where they try to
eradicate ferns from parts of Hege's farm. It is scary to then
see so many ferns. It is as scary as if Edvard Munch was Home Alone!

Adelheid helped find a trail back to the car. The trail included this very
helpful bridge. We did see how the moose crosses a marsh - just walk straight
through it!

At the car park we discovered, and giggled a bit, how each cabin
owner has a wheelbarrow to help offload their stuff from car to cabin.
Then they toss their wheelbarrows into the bushes. Funny!

We also found this over-the-top building which houses equipment used to
make cross-country ski trails. They make it easier to have fun ski
trips in the area.

Finally, back at the car, we enjoyed well-deserved cold soft drinks.

We hiked 6.18 km including 380 metre ascent. It took us 3:10 hours
of which we walked for 1:26 hours. Max height of 1,048 metres was on
the top of Dammenuten where we enjoyed our picnic lunch.
